Pamela in joint lead in British Women's Open Amateur Strokeplay

At the end of a day of unrelenting rain Pamela Pretswell and Chrisje De Vries from the Netherlands led the 42 qualifiers with totals of 15-over-par 159 or better into Friday’s final two rounds.
They are both on two-over-par 146, Pamela after a second-round, two-over-par 74, one of the best scores in the awful weather, and Chrisje after a 78.

Louise wins Bronze Division in West Regional Medal Finals

Louise Fleming, a member of Strathaven Golf Club and LLCGA, won the Bronze Division of the SLGA Regional Medal Final- West Division at East Kilbride Golf Club today in which 100 competed. She had a 4 under par 69, 5 under the CSS of 74 to win by 5 strokes. She qualifies to play in the Grand Final at Crieff on 5 September.

In the silver division Joyce Chalmers, East Kilbride finished in third place with a 71, beaten for a qualifying second place by a better inward half.

Mhairi makes a good start in Scottish Open

In the first round of the Ladies Scottish Open at Archerfield Links today Mhairi Mckay had a 1 over par 73, 4 shots behind the leader, Trish Johnston.

Pamela in 5th place at British Amateur Championship

Pamela Pretswell kept up her recent good form to finish the opening day of the British women’s open amateur stroke-play golf championship at Tenby, South Wales in a share of fifth place.
She shot a level par of 72 in windy conditions for the early starters and would have been that bit closer to Chrisje De Vries (Netherlands) and Amy Boulden (Maesdu) – joint leaders on 68 – had she not bogeyed the 15th and 18th.
Pamela also ran up a double bogey 6 at the 11th but, on the bright side, she had a bag of five birdies: at the long first, the third, the 10th, the 13th, and the long 14th in halves of 36.

Susan is winner and other Lanarkshire Members do well at County Open Meeting

Susan Wood had a level par 72 today to win the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association County Open Meeting at Duff House Royal Golf Club.
Susan matched the par and CSS with a good round of 72 to head a field of 75. She pipped Lesley Lloyd by one stroke with Aberdeenshire women’s county champion, Sammy Leslie third with a 77.
In the Silver Division handicap section, Anne Keddie (Ladies Panmure Barry) won the top prize with a net 68 off 15, a shot ahead of Fiona Scott (Bothwell Castle) who plays off five.
The two prizewinners in the Bronze Division were Nita Dervish-Uman (Kemnay) and Florence Allan (Kemnay).
Nita and Florence both had scratch 98s. Nita had the better inward half to win the scratch trophy and Florence’s net 66 off 32 won her the handicap award.
This is Duff House Royal Golf Club's Centenary Year.

Scotland runners-up in Girls Home Internationals

England showed no mercy in beating Wales 9-0 to keep the Stroyan Cup with a third successive title win in the Girls Home International Matches at Bangor Golf Club, Northern Ireland. They won all three of their matches in impressive style with a young squad.
Scotland claimed the Swansea Spoon as runners-up for the second year in a row. They beat Ireland 5 1/2-3 1/2 to finish with two wins to their credit.

Eleven teams participated in an enjoyable Tri Am today at Cambuslang Golf Club. The course was in very good condition and the bar and catering staff as always looked after us very well. As a result of a raffle £148 was raised for the funds.

Ten of our more senior members also participated in a 12 hole putting competition which was won by Helen Hamilton.

Scottish Vets retain the Miller-Stirling Salver

The Scottish Vets team in which May Hughes played a successful part, retained the Miller- Stirling Trophy today at Seascale Golf Club by defeating England North 6-2. Yesterday they halved with Midlands and on Tuesday they defeated England South 6-3.

Scotland lost to England on day 2 of the Girls Home Internationals at Bangor Golf Club, Northern Ireland today .
After a promising morning, when they shared the foursomes with title-holders England, the Scots had no answer to the skill of their opponents in the singles.
England won five out of six for a 6 ½-2 ½ victory to make them overwhelming favourites to win the Stroyan Cup for a third year in a row.
They complete their programme with a match against Wales who beat Ireland 7-2.

Pamela finishes second in Austrian Women's Open Championship

Pamela Pretswell finished second in the Austrian women's amateur golf championship at Murhof Golf Club today.
She looked on course for a victory when she opened the 72-hole tournament with a nine-birdie round of six-under-par 66.
She was still leading the international field by one shot going into the final round but was caught over the last two holes by Klara Spilkova (Czech Republic) who birdied six of the last 11 holes for a 66 and a 10-under-par total of 278.
Pretswell, in her final round, bogeyed the eighth, birdied the 10th and 12th ... but had to settle for pars at the last six holes. She finished with a 71 for nine-under 279.
