Christmas Quiz winner announced

Congratulations to Caroline Smith of Strathaven, the winner of the Christmas Quiz. . 46 returns were received of which 22 were correct, Caroline being the lucky winner, in the draw of those correct, of the £25 voucher.
The farthest travelled was one, which although from a 'local' entrant, was posted in Manchester.
We also had an entry from the Monday Lady Golfers of Brechin Golf Club. They said, "Thank you for giving us pleasure one rainy Monday morning". They sent a donation of £5.
So far we have collected £229 but there is still some money to come. Thanks are due to Anne Lloyd for organising this.

    Due to the prolonged period of inclement weather the closing date for the second round of the Winter Foursomes Competition has been extended to 16th January. Should the weather fail to improve this date may be reviewed in the future.

    Clare has gained her card


    Clare Queen has regained full playing rites on the Ladies European Tour after finishing with a 2 under 71 today at La Manga Golf Club. She finished tied for 16th.

    Congratulations, Clare. Very well done.

    Clare makes the cut at Q School

    Clare Queen had a 5 over par 76 today on the North Course of La Manga Golf Club. She is now 9 over par and is 23=. The cut for the top 50 and ties came at +15.
    The fifth and final round will take place over the South Course tomorrow. At the completion of 90 holes the top 30 players will earn their full card for next season’s tour in category 8a. Those in positions 31 to 50 and ties will earn an exemption status in category 11a with limited tournament starts.
    We wish her well.

    SLGA names Squads for 2011

    SLGA has named the following LLCGA members in their training and selection squads for 2011. Pamela Pretswell is in the National Women's Squad and Eva O'Connor in the Scottish Academy Year 1.

    Clare still doing well at Q School

    Clare Queen is now 9= after the third round at the LET final Qualifying at La Manga after a 4 over par 77 on the South Course today in cold and windy conditions.
    The tee off times were delayed by one hour because of frost. By lunchtime the wind had got up and by the end of play it was howling.

    Clare is now up to 6 equal at Q School

    Clare Queen had a 1 under par round 0f 70 on the North Course, La Manga on day 2 of the LET Qualifying school to give her an even par total of 144 and a share of 6th place.

    Clare starts well at LET Final Qualifying

    In the first round of the European Tour Final Qualifying School over the North and South Courses at La Manga Golf Club Clare Queen scored a 1 over par 74 on the par 73 South Course and lies in joint 17th position.
    There will be a cut to the top 50 players and ties after four rounds.
    The fifth and final round for the qualifiers will be over the South course. At the end of 90 holes, the top 30 will earn Ladies European Tour playing rights for 2011 in Category 8a. Players finishing in positions 31 to 50 and ties will earn Category 9b.
    Players who fail to make the 72-hole cut will be eligible for Membership in Category 11a.

    Clare has Qualified comfortably for Final Q School

    Clare finished eighth in the South-North group with scores of 73, 71, 75 and 71 for two-over-par 290, 13 shots behind the runaway winner of this section, Sweden's Caroline Hedwall.
    The cut-off point for qualifiers in this group was 302 or better.
    The leading 73 players will now join the existing LET members attempting to retain their cards making a field of 104 players at Ladies European Tour Final Qualifying School for the 2011 season from 15-20 December at La Manga Club. At the end of five demanding rounds, the top 30 players will earn Membership of the LET in category 8a.

    Clare is doing well in pre.qualifier

    Clare Queen is on course to progress from the Ladies European Tour School's 72-hole pre-qualifier at La Manga to the Final Q School, also at the Spanish venue, from December 15 to 19.
    Clare is the best placed of five Scots in the field which is split into two groups playing the North-South courses in a different sequence.
    Clare scored 73, 71 and 75 for a creditable two-over-par tally of 219 to be lying joint seventh, after the third round, behind leader by 15 strokes, Sweden's Caroline Hedwall (65 for 206) in the group playing the South-North sequence.
    The top 35 from each group qualify for the Final Q school. We wish her well in the final round tomorrow.
