Last Winter's Final is finally played.

Congratulations to Jean Maddock and Edna Taylor in winning the 2019/2020 Winter Foursomes Final at Hamilton Golf Club today. In a very close match They beat Christine Paterson and Mel Watt 2&1.

I am told they enjoyed the match in spite of the conditions you can see in Angela's photographs.

Well done Megan

Many congratulation to Megan Docherty, Bishopbriggs, on winning the Stephen Gallacher Foundation Vase at the SGF 36 Hole competition at Macdonald Cardrona GC, Peebles, yesterday.

On a course measuring over 6,000 yards for the girls Megan came from behind, shooting an excellent 75 to add to her opening 80, to win by 1 shot from Grace Crawford, North Berwick.

Leah Bryce, Sandyhills, finished 13th and Abigail McCafferty, Airdrie, 16th.

Well done all for taking part on a long course at this time of year.

Death of County Member

It is with much sadness that I announce the death last night of Jean Pollock. Jean, a member of Hamilton GC, was a very long serving and very supportive member of the county, initially as a player and caddy. After she stopped playing she continued to support the team at many Jamborees and was ever present at  County Social Events including the Coffee Morning in March. Unfortunately Jean broke her leg last week due to a fall and this may have been too much for her to cope with.
We will  miss her. We extend our sympathy to all her family and friends.

Cancellation of fixtures

Dear Ladies

Regrettably, the committee and I have decided to cancel the remaining fixtures of the 2020 season due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This will include the forthcoming winter foursomes.

Despite courses now being open and clubhouses likely to be in operation soon, we felt that many clubs will wish to have their courses available to their own members for what will now be a short season.

Whilst this has been a difficult decision we also wished to ensure the health and well being of our members.

Subscriptions for this season will rollover to the 2021 season.

We are however hoping to run another fun competition in a July and Anne Lloyd will be in touch shortly with further details.

The committee and I wish you well for the rest of the year and we hope to return next year with a full fixture list so you can enjoy some competitive golf and reacquaint many friendships.

Best wishes

Fiona Norris

May Competitions cancelled

Hi Ladies
I hope you are well and staying safe.
As lockdown continues and competitive golf is unlikely for the time being, we have had to cancel the Intercounty Foursomes Qualifying at Cawder on 13th May and the county spoon at Lanark on 17th May.
Hopefully it will not be long before the golf courses can open again and we can at least enjoy playing on our own courses whilst being mindful of social distancing. We continue to monitor the advice from the government but it is likely other fixtures will have to be cancelled too. I will keep you up to date with any further changes.
Take care.

Cancellation of County Championship

Hi Ladies,
Due to the ongoing situation with the Coronavirus, the committee and I have regrettably decided to cancel our County Championship at Drumpellier from 27-29th April. With the current government advice there was no option but to do this. I will keep you informed in due course about other fixtures. It's a sad decision to make but we have to be mindful of everyone's health.
Hopefully we will be back on the fairways soon. Take care everyone.
