Closing date for Winter Foursomes semi-finals

Due to the bad weather over the last couple of weeks and course closures the closing date for completion of the semi-finals has been extended until Sunday 11 February.

On a very cold but sunny day at Wishaw GC today Joan Anderson and Margaret Marshall beat last year's winners, Roxy Brown and Kay Cherrie, 4&3, in the last Quarter Final tie of the Winter Foursomes Competition.

On a lovely sunny day today two Quarter Final Winter Foursomes ties were played.

In an all East Kilbride match Sheila Sergenson and Ann Roulston beat Enid King and Karen Ward 2 up.
At Cambuslang GC Jo Clark, Bothwell Castle, and Katie Burden, Cambuslang, beat Irene Cooper and Anne Clark, Drumpellier, 3&1.

It was a lovely sunny  but cold day at Gullane for the match against East Lothian today. 
Unfortunately the sun affected the quality of the photograph of the team above.
The match finished in a nice friendly half. Each team won 2 and halfed 1 match.

 Ireland won the Senior Home Internationals in Newport, Wales after beating England 4.5-3.5.Scotland drew 4-4 with Wales
They finished equal on points with Wales but, as a result of winning half a game less Scotland finished bottom of the table.

Seniors lose to Ireland



Scotland were beaten 6-2 by Ireland while England beat Wales 5-3 on the opening day of the Senior Women's Home Internationals at Newport Golf Club, Wales.
Scotland lost the morning Foursomes 3-0.
Fiona De Vries and Sheena Wood won their afternoon singles but Ireland won the three other ties to complete a comfortable win.
England won the foursomes 2-1 and the singles 3-2 for their 5-3 win over Wales.

Well done West Girls

The West  Girls' Finals took place today in very challenging conditions at Troon Porttland. The winner was Lorna McClymont, Milngavie, with Susan Woodhouse, East Kilbride, runner up. Lorna won by 1 hole.
In their semi-final tie Susan Woodhouse beat Megan Docherty, Bishopbriggs, 4&3.

Lovely day for Rescheduled Autumn Meeting

Very lucky that in spite of yet more overnight rain the rescheduled Autumn Meeting was played in sunshine and the course at Strathaven GC was in good condition considering the very wet summer and autumn weather.
.
We also enjoyed a nice meal afterwards.
The winners with an excellent score of 76 (net 71.2) were Lesley Lloyd, Hayston, and May Hughes , Lanark.
Runners Up were local members, sisters  Marie Scott and Agnes McCall with a net 74.4.

Yesterday on a lovely autumn evening, before the rain arrived,  Jean Maddock and Edna Taylor, Wishaw, beat Taylor White , Cathkin Braes, and Susan Woodhouse, East Kilbride, 2 and 1, Jean said that the girls were a pleasure to play with. 
Due to injury Marion Brodie and Francis Stobo have conceded their match to Karen Ward and Enid King, East Kilbride.
Also due to injury Irene Cooper has changed her partner. She is now playing with Anne Clark.

Scotland Seniors finished in 10th place in the European Seniors Team Championships in Slovakia today. England finished 1st with a total score of 744 - (best 5 scores to count each day) , Ireland on 757 and Scotland on 773.

Competitors wanted for Junior Team Championship

Calling anyone involved with junior golf we are really low on entries for this great event. It offers a great learning environment with some of the countries top coaches in the form of Mark Loftus, Dean Robertson & Stewart Savage, free food, prizes and entry fee. The event is in serious jeopardy of being cancelled . There must be hundreds of local golfers looking for a game? Under 14,16 & 18 age categories 36 handicap limit. Pro@thecounty.co.uk for entries.
Format is stableford- teams of 3, 2 to count. You can enter on your own and you will be placed in a team.

It's a win for the Scotland Teams against Wales

Both the Scottish Girls and the Scottish Ladies Teams beat Wales 6.5-2.5 today in the Home Internationals at Little Aston.
Molly Richmond again won her Foursomes match. She did not play this afternoon.
England Girls beat Ireland 6.5-2.5 to end with 3 wins. Ireland were second with 2 wins and Scotland finished third with 1 win with Wales  fourth..
In the Ladies International Ireland finished first after beating England 5-4 today. England with 2 wins finished second and Scotland with 1 win finished third with Wales fourth.

Scottish Seniors lose 7-2 to England South

At the Senior Jamboree at Ffilford Heath G C today Scotland had 1 win in the Foursomes from Frances Miller and Jennifer Bryans and a win in the singles by Fiona De Fries. Lesley Lloyd did not play in the afternoon.
Midlands won the Miller Stirling Salver with 2 points and 16.5 games.
North were runners up with 2 points and 16 games followed by South with 1 point and 13.5 games.
Scotland had 0 points and 8 games.
