Closing date for Tri Am extended

 The closing date for the Tri Am at Cambuslang GC on Friday 8 August was 29 July but has been extended to Friday 1 August. Entries can be made online on the website or by contacting Morag Macdonald.  

Susan wins for seventh time in a row

At a warm and sunny Colville Park today Susan Wood, Drumpellier, won the 36 hole Morison Cup for the seventh year in a row with a 3 over par total of 145 (72,73). The runner up was Kirsten Brown, Strathaven with a total of 148 (75,73) . In third place was Emma Caddow, Strathaven, with a total of 151( 76,75 ). Kirsten also won the handicap prize with rounds of 70, 68.
Susan also won the Blackjack Cup with a net 70, BIH from Margaret Marshall, Wishaw.
Ellie Bryce, Strathaven, won the Junior Championship Scratch Cup with a gross 75 by the better inward half from Kirsten Brown. Emily Glencorse won the Championship Salver with a net 68.
SS 71 CSS Morison Cup 71,71. Blackjack Cup and Junior Championship 72. As the Morison Cup is a 36 hole competition it has a separate CSS.

India Clyburn wins Junior Open Strokeplay Champonship

India Clyburn, Woodhall Spa, had a 9 under par round of 65 today to win the under 21 Championship with a three round total of 207( 71,70,65) 12 strokes ahead of second placed Gabrielle Macdonald.
Molly Richmond won the best  under 15 Nett score (3 under par 71 )  in round 3. Well done, Molly.

Hannah McCook, Grantown on Spey, is leading after a 4 under par round of 70.

Scottish Girls Championship concluded today

Fiona Liddell, Gutersloh, is the new Scottish Girls Champion after beating Heather Monroe 2 and 1 at Dumfries and County Golf Club today.
Jillian Farrell, Cardross, won the Ansley Reid Salver. She beat Jennifer Saxton, Kinross, 1 up

!st and 3rd qualifiers beaten in Scottish Girls Championship

Leading qualifier Clara Young lost in the first round to Claire Robertson. Connie Jaffrey lost in the Quarter Finals to Mirren Fraser.
The Lanarkshire girls all played very well but have failed to get through to the final day.  In the first round Ellie Bryce was defeated on the 18th by Shannon McWilliam.  Molly Richmond lost 7&5 to the number 2 qualifier, Fiona Liddell.
Eva O'Connor lost 6&5 to Jennifer Saxton who then defeated Kirstin Brown in the semi final by 3&2. In her first round tie Kirstin beat Andrea Walker 1 up.
The Championship semi finals are: Joanne Free v Heather Munro and Mirren Fraser v Fiona Liddell.
The final of the Ansley Reid Salver is: Jennifer Saxton v Jillian Farrell.
Our girls did well, gained experience and will be eligible to compete in this Championship for a few more years.

Lanarkshire Girls Qualify for Matchplay Championship

Congratulations to Ellie Bryce and Molly Richmond, both Strathaven, who have qualified for the Matchplay Championship and to Eva O'Connor, Bothwell Castle, and Kirsten Brown, Strathaven, who qualified for the Ansley Reid Salver. Eva was the top qualifier.
The conditions for the first round were difficult with wind and heavy rain but fortunately it was dry and sunny for the second round in the afternoon.

Great win for Scotish Ladies but Narrow loss for Girls

Scottish Ladies team beat Austria 5-0 in their last Flight B match in the European women's team championship at Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Alyson McKechin and Scottish champion Gabrielle MacDonald set the tone with a 3 and 2 victory in the lead-off tie.
That was quickly followed by victories in the singles for Curtis Cup players Gemma Drybuyrgh (5 and 4) and Eilidh Briggs (3 and 2).
Jess Meek and Connie Jaffrey wrapped up a splendid Scotland finale, both winning by 3 and 2
France beat Finland 4 1/2-2 1/2 in the Championship Final while England were trounced 5 1/2-1 1/2 by Switzerland in the third place play-off.
In the European girls' team championship at Skalica, Slovakia Scotland lost 3-2 to Czech Republic in Flight B while England were heavily defeated, 4 1/2-1/2, by Spain in their closing Flight A match.
Shannon McWilliam and Nicola Callander lost the foursomes by one hole to their Czech opponents and that proved to be the decisive match as the singles were shared 2-2.
Clara Young (2 and 1) and Lauren Whyte (4 and 3) were Scotland's winners in the singles.

Lanarkshire Members are winners in Banff

In the Duff House Royal five day Open Susan McGrenaghan ( Mount Ellen) was the Scratch winner for the third year in a row.
Christine Main ( Hayston ) won the  Low Handicap while Ann McFarlane (Cathkin Braes) won the High Handicap.

Scottish Girls and Ladies Teams are both winners

Scotland teams won their Flight B ties today (Friday) in the European women's and  girls' team golf championships respectively
Scotland's women beat Austria 4 1/2-1/2 at Ljubljana, Slovenia with Eilidh Briggs, Jess Meek, Gemma Dryburgh, and the foursomes pairing of Alyson McKechin and Gabrielle MacDonald providing the wins.
Connie Jaffrey had a halved match.
 
Scotland's girls beat Belgium 3-2 at Skalika, Slovenia.
The Scots winners were Hazel McGarvie, Lauren Whyte and Heather Munro.

Scottish Girls Win while Ladies lose against Denmark

The Scottish Girls Team(captain Susan Wood) beat Denmark 3 1/2-1 1/2 in their opening tie in Flight B of the European girls' team championship at Skalika, Slovakia today. They just missed qualifying for Flight A yesterday
The Scots swinners were Heather Munro (1 hole), Hazel McGarvie (2 holes) and the foursomes partnership of Nicola Callander and Shannon McWilliam (2 holes).
Lauren Whyte halved her match while Clara Young went down by 4 and 2.They play Belgium tomorrow.

The Scottish ladies Team(captain Elaine Cuthill) were beaten 3-2 by Denmark in their first match of Flight B in the European women's amateur team championship at Luubljana, Slovenia.
The Scots winners were Alyson McKechin and Gabrielle MacDonald, by 2 and 1 in the foursomes, and Gemma Dryburgh, one hole in the singles.

Susan McGrenaghan is top Qualifier at Duff House Royal


Susan McGrenaghan (Mount Ellen) was top scratch qualifier for the match-play stages of the Duff House Royal five-day women's open tournament  taking place this week.    Susan McGrenaghan is going for a hat-trick of titles having been victorious in 2012 and 2013.
Susan will play Sheila Sergenson (East Kilbride) in the Scratch Quarter Finals for which Jane Lees also qualified

Double win in Scottish Seniors Championship

Alison Bartlett, Royal Dornoch, today won the Matchplay Championship to add to her Strokeplay title. She defeated Alex Glennie, Kilmarnock Barassie, 3&1.The Handicap Championship was won by Rita Dee, Kingsknowe.

May qualifies for Scottish Senior Matchplay championship

On a very windy day at Elgin Golf Club today the Scottish Seniors Strokeplay Championship was won by Alison Bartlett, Royal Dornoch,  with a two round total of 154(75,79)
Liz Keohone  (Loudoun)and Alex Glennie  ( Kilmarnock Barassie) were
tied for 2nd on 156, Alex taking third place and Liz 4th after a card countback.
May Hughes qualified in 9th place with a total of 159 (82,77)
Janice Paterson just missed qualifying by 1 stroke with a total of 164 (83, 81).
Leigh Duff of Cathkin Braes qualified for the handicap Championship.
