We are very sad to hear of the sudden death yesterday of Willie Paterson, husband of our President, Janice.
We send our deepest sympathy to Janice and to the family. who are very much in our thoughts at this time.
The following is a tribute to Willie from Lanarkshire Golf;
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden passing yesterday of former County Champion Willie Paterson OBE (Drumpellier).
Willie was a fine golfer and played for the county team for many years and he reached the QF of the British Amateur at St.Andrews in 1976 before losing to the eventual winner, Dick Siderowf (USA).
Willie was a former LGA Patron and was a great supporter of LGA and he recently supported the LGA Junior Tour.
Willie was the Chairman of Patersons Quarries & Patersons of Greenoakhill and was very proud of his recent OBE for services to the Economy and to the community in Scotland.
Our thoughts at this sad time go to Willie’s wife Janice, the current Lanarkshire Ladies President and to his son and daughters and immediate family and friends.
