West of Scotland Close Championship Conditions of Competition and Entry Forms

 The West of Scotland Close Championship will take place at Milngavie GC on Sunday 7th May. Closing date 29th April. 

This is an 18 hole competition open to all members of a County Association in the West of Scotland with a maximum handicap index of 20.4..

Winners of Winter Greensomes Decided

 As  the scheduled venue, Drumpellier Golf Course,  for today's Winter Greensomes Final was closed this morning due to heavy overnight rain the all Strathaven Final was played at Strathaven Golf Club this afternoon. Conditions were not ideal so well done in getting it played.

In a very close match Christine Paterson and Lyn Feeley beat Susan Halley and Linda Syme 2&1.  Congratulations  Christine and Lyn and well done to Susan and Linda on doing so well in the competition.

Sad News

 It is with much sadness that I announce the passing of Helen Hamilton, a well liked member of the County for many years,

Helen was a member of Hamilton Golf Club for 57 years.

She was a very active member of the county. In more recent years when she played less she continued to be a regular supporter at Inter County Matches and to attend Social Events while her health permitted.

She played in and won the putting competition at the Tri Am, pictured below.

The funeral will be held at South Lanarkshire Crematorium at 2 pm on Wednesday 12th April.

New Vice Captain Appointed

 Congratulations to Deirdrie Anderson who was presented with her Vice Captain's badge  at the coffee morning by captain Anne Mungall.

Full House for Coffee Morning

 It was a full house for this morning's annual Coffee Morning . Thank you to Hamilton GC for the use of their Clubhouse. The scones and cakes from Country Bake , Strathaven, were again enjoyed and it was good to meet up after the winter.

Thank you to all who supplied raffle prizes. The super sum of £1730 was raised for our funds.

Winter Greensomes Finalists Decided

 In the second semi final of the Winter Greensomes today at Strathaven Golf Club Christine Paterson and Lyn Feeley beat Lyn Williamson and Irene Morton 4&3.

This means they will meet Susan Halley and Linda Syme. in an all Strathaven Final. Date and venue to be decided.
