Fiona is Leading Qualifier

On a dry, sunny but very windy day today the championship qualifying round was played on the Cawder Course at Cawder Golf Club. 

Congratulations to the leading qualifier Fiona Norris of Hamilton with a sore of 80.

 Kirsten Brown, Strathaven, was second qualifier with 81 while defending Champion, Susan Wood, Drumpellier qualified in third place with 82.

Also many congratulations to Jan McMillan leading qualifier in the Bronze Championship and to Kirsten Brown, winner of the Centenary Salver with the best net score of 78, BIH from Fiona Norris.

The Bronze Final between Jan and Melanie Watt will take place on Wednesday morning at 9.50am.

Scottish Girls Open Championship starts today

A number of Lanarkshire girls are competing in the 54 hole Championship which is being held at Montrose GC, medal Course, from today until Thursday. We wish them well.

Scottish Vets defeat Irish Seniors for first time in 8 years

The Scottish Veteran Ladies Golf Association team beat the Irish senior women's team 6.5 to 5.5 at Murcar Links Golf Club today to win the Mary McKenna Trophy for the first time since 2009.

Scotland took a 1pt lead in the first-day foursomes and just managed to hold on to that advantage by drawing the singles 4-4.

The Irish had won the last seven years in this fixture in which the venue alternates between Scotland and Ireland.

The vital Scottish victories in the singles came from Lorna McKinlay (Midland), Gillian Kyle (West) and Aberdeen Ladies stalwart Sheena Wood (Northern).

Donna Jackson (West) and Buckpool's Meg Seivwright (Highland) halved their singles.

Scottish Vets lead Irish Seniors after First Day Foursomes

Scottish Vets lead the Irish Seniors team, current European Champions, by 2.5 to 1.5 after the first day's Foursomes at Murcar today.  Eight singles will be played tomorrow.

Sheena Wood and Meg Sievwright halved with Mary Sheehy and Laura Webb A/S

Lesley Lloyd and Ashley Rose lost to Maria O' Reilly and Sheena McIlroy 3 & 1

Captain and Partner win Winter Foursomes Final

A very friendly final match in the Winter Foursomes Competition was played on a nice sunny day today at Strathaven Golf Club . 

The match was very close, neither couple being more than one hole up at any time.

All square after 18,  Roxy Brown, Hamilton, and Kay Cherrie, Mount Ellen, won the first extra hole  to beat Sheila Sergenson and Ann Roulston, East Kilbride.

Match v Midlothian

On a lovely sunny day  at Lanark Golf Club yesterday  Lanarkshire CGA enjoyed a friendly match against Midlothian CGA. The Lanarkshire Senior Team of Kirsten Brown, Alison Hendry, Ruth Hunter, Fiona Norris, Eva O'Connor,  Molly Richmond, Katie Scott and Susan Wood lost 2 1/2-1 1/2 while the Junior couple  of Justine Fulton and Susan Woodhouse won 1-0.
