It is with sadness that I report the death on Tuesday of Honorary Member Jean Cameron.
Jean contributed much to golf at Club, County and National level.
She was Ladies Captain Of Strathaven Golf Club in 1966, Ladies Champion 17 times and a member of the Park Trophy Team for many years. She continued to play into her nineties and was a member of the Birdies Choir until due to ill health she took up residence in a care home 3 years ago.
At County Level she was Captain of Lanarkshire Ladies from 1977-79 and President from 2003-2008. She was a member of the County Team for many years.
At Scottish level Jean was a former President of the Scottish Ladies Golf Association and an Honorary Vice President until amalgamation with SGU.
At British Level she was Chairman of the Ladies Golf Union and an Honorary Voce President until its amalgamation with the R&A.
Jean was also a qualified R&A level 3 referee and acted as a rules official for over 30 years.
She was a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. We send our sympathy to her sons John, Colin and Ronnie and their families.
