Susan is Champion

Susan Wood beat Alyson Hendry 4 & 3  to win the Championship for the second time. Alyson has won 3 times but this is the first time she has been runner up.

 Both started with bogy 5s to half the first two holes. Susan went 1 up with a par at the third. Holes 4&5 were halved in pars while hole six was halved in birdie 4s. Holes 7 to 10 were halved in pars. Alyson then birdied the par 5 eleventh hole to square the match but then  conceded the 12th and 13th, being unfortunate to find a number of bunkers, to go 2 down. Susan then went 3 up with a par at the 14th and as Alyson conceded the 15th the match finished 4&3 in Susan's favour. 

Congratulations Susan.

Heather Wins Bronze Championship

In a close final of the Bronze Championship Heather Stewart bt Elizabeth Nelson 3&2. Both played well.

The Championship final at 2.15 will be between Susan Wood and Alyson Hendry.

The closing date for the Scottish Women's Amateur Championship at West Kilbride from 31st  May to  4th June is 28th April.

Irish Seniors Win

In the match between the Scottish Vets and Irish Seniors at Lahinch GC, Ireland, the Irish Seniors won 10-2.

Scottish Girls Open Championship starts Wednesday

Three Lanarkshire girls, Kirsten Brown, Molly Richmond and Katie Scott will be competing at Strathmore GC from Wednesday to Friday. We wish them well.

This is the first year this competition has been for under 18 rather than under 16.

In the friendly match with Midlothian yesterday  at Mortonhall GC there were some very close matches that went to the 18th but Lanarkshire lost the Fourball matches 4-1
