Final Winter Foursomes Finalists Decided

In the second semi-final played at Kirkhill GC Lynne Williamson and Irene Morton defeated Ray Wilson and Anne Morrison.

They will meet Pauline Warlow and Carol McKinnon in the final.

In a semi-final tie at Drumpellier Golf Club today Pauline Warlow and Carol McKinnon defeated Winnie Cossar and Margaret Porteous.

All second round (or quarter final) ties are now complete. Semi final ties are to be completed by 9th January.

Junior Coaching started

Our Junior coaching sessions which are taking place at the SLGA Development Centre at Broadlees Driving Range at Chapelton with coach Lesley Mackay started last Saturday and are continuing today.

Ellie Bryce, Strathaven, was second with a  2 over par 73, two strokes behind the winner, Joanne Free, Gullane. in the SLGA Junior Champion of Champions at the Dukes, St Andrews, yesterday. Well done, Ellie.

Scottish Golf Strategy

During 2014, the Boards of Scottish Golf Union (SGU), Scottish Ladies' Golfing Association (SLGA), ClubGolf (Scotland) Ltd (CSL) and Scottish Golf Environment Group (SGEG) have engaged in a process of strategic review. The outcome of this work has been the production of a draft strategy for a 4-year period from 2014 to 2018 and we are now keen to seek views of all our members throughout Scotland.

Molly and Dionne win West Girls Titles

Congratulations to Molly Richmond who won the West of Scotland Girls Championship today at Troon Portland Golf Club  and to Dionne Dorricitt who won the Bronze Championship. 

Molly defeated Katie Scott at the 18th in the final. Dionne defeated Jan Adams.

England Win Senior Home Internationals

England had their third win at the Senior Home Internationals at Huddersfield Golf Club. They beat Wales 7-1.

Ireland beat Scotland also  by 7-1  Lesley Lloyd and Sheena Wood in their morning foursome match were the only winners for Scotland.

Scottish Seniors lose to Wales on first day of Home Internationals

In the Seniors Home Internationals at Huddersfield Golf Club Scotland lost to Wales 4 1/2 to 3 1/2 while England beat Ireland 5 1/2 to 2 1/2.

Scotland won the morning Foursomes 2-1 but lost the afternoon singles 3 1/2 - 1 1/2

Angus won the County Finals at Hilton Park Golf Club Today after a narrow win over Renfrewshire by 5 games to 4.
Renfrewshire were runners up witth Borders who beat East Lothian by 5 games to 4 in third.

Lanarkshire Juniors have half match with D&A

Lanarkshire Junior girls played a friendly match today  against D & A at Clober GC near Milngavie.  The match was  a draw with 1.5 points each and was played in good spirits and fantastic late September sunshine.. The Lanarkshire team was as follows Abbi Kidd (Lenzie) , Dionne Dorricott  (Strathaven ) and new Development Squad player Megan Docherty (Bishopbriggs).

Angus are only winners on day one of County Finals

On day one of the County Finals a5 Hilton Park Golf Club Angus defeated Borders 6 1/ 2 to2 1 /12 while East Lothian and Renfrewshire had a half match with 4 1/2 games each.

Lesley finished tied 18th

Lesley Lloyd finished tied 18th in the. S e noir British open Strokeplay Championship  at Royal  Dornach  Golf Club after an 80 in the final round today giving her an   8 over  par  total of 230 (77,79,80).

Lesley still playing well in British Seniors

Lesley Lloyd is now joint 15th in Senior Ladies British Open  Strokeplay Championship at Royal Dornoch Golf Club after a 3 over par round of 77 in round 2 today.  

Lesley is tied 9th in British Senior Championship

Lesley Lloyd is tied for 9th after round 1 of the British Seniors Championship at Royal Dornoch Golf Club. She along with Mary Smith, Tain, is the leading Scot after a 1 over par 77. The leader with a 5 under par 71 is Helen Lowe, Scraptoft. The CSS was also 76.

Lesley maintains good form

Lesley Lloyd had the lowest scratch score of 78 in the West Vets Autumn Meeting  in which 80 competitors took part at Erskine Golf Club on Tuesday.

Lanarkshire Couple second in Commonwealth Spoons Final

Rena Canavan and Louisa McCartney were second in the Commonwealth Spoons Final held at Ladybank Golf Club on Wednesday.48 couples from 14 different Counties competed. Louise MacGregor and her partner Tricia Chillas (Stirling & Clackmannanshire) took this years title with a nett 72  and in 3rd place were Linda Hay & Fiona Bennett (Renfrewshire) with a nett 74.5.

On Saturday at a windy Auchterarder Golf Club May Hughes, Lanark, and Lesley Lloyd, Hayston, were runners up by 1 stroke with an 81 to Elaine Allison and Alison Davidson, Stirling, in the Scottish Foursomes.

Due to lack of entries the rescheduled West Championship at Windyhill GC on Sunday 14 September has been cancelled.

The Autumn Meeting was held on a dry but cool day at Shotts Golf Club today. The course was in good condition and the buffet breakfast and soup and sandwich lunch were very tasty.

Lesley selected for Scotland

Many congratulations to Lesley Lloyd who has been selected for the Scottish Team for the Senior Home Internationals at Huddersfield Golf Club from 30 September to 2 October. We wish her well.

Susan wins Challenge Cup at County Open Meeting

Congratulations to Susan Wood who won the Challenge Cup for the second year in a row with the best scratch score of two-over-par 76 in yesterday's SLGA county open meeting at Lanark Golf Club.

A field of 47 had to contend with very heavy showers which helped push the CSS up to 77 (reduction only).

Anna Telfer (Milngavie) had the second best scratch score of 78 to win the Muirhead Tankard.

Anna. playing off six, won the Handicap Challenge Cup with a net 72, three ahead of May Hughes,  Lanark.

In the Bronze Division, the Nisbett Scratch Cup was won by Sandra Johnson (Kilbirnie Place) with a score of 106. Sandra's net 85 off 21 also won her the Handicap Challenge Cup in this division.

Janice Gallagher (West Kilbride) was runner-up with a net 89 off 21.

Wrong date for Wishaw Mixed Open

Please note that  Wishaw Golf Club Mixed Open is on Sunday 31 August. The date in the Wee  Yellow Book is wrong.  If you wish to play please contact the professional, Stuart Adair on 01698 358247. The cost is £10.00 per couple and the charity is Erskine Hospital.
