Winter Foursome Result

In a first round tie Marie McConnell and Heather Wyper, Bothwell castle defeated Jan McMillan, Hayston, and Margaret Perston, Kirkhill. Marjorie Seymour and Jenny Potter lost to Anne Lloyd and Pat Casey.

In first round ties Irene Morton and Lynne Williamson, Kirkhill, defeated Susan McGrenaghan and Dianne Coughlan, Mount Ellen while Alice Brown and Fay Chalmers, Bothwell Castle, defeated May Hughes, Cathkin Braes, and Isa Robertson, East Kilbride.

    Armed with hand warmers and several layers of warm clothing, the Advanced, Development and Junior Squads had their first Winter Training session with Lesley MacKay at Playsport today. Despite the baltic conditions everyone worked very hard and are already looking forward to the next session on 21st November.

    Commonwealth Spoons had better weather today

    The rescheduled Commonwealth Spoons competition was held at Cathkin Braes Golf Club today when pairs from all 15 counties, including 3 from Lanarkshire, took part. The Commonwealth Spoons were won by Mary Malcolm & Helen Thomson from Fife. Joanna Scott and Pauline Warlow were 4th.

    Pamela is Champion of Champions

    Congratulations to Pamela Pretswell who has roumded off an excellent season by winning the SLGA Champion of Champions at Glasgow Gailes today.
    The reigning British Stroke Play Champion shot a level par round of 75 which was six strokes better than the Scottish Girls' Champion, Lesley Atkins (Gullane). Alison Davidson (Stirling) was third with a score of 82. There was a strong cross wind across the Gailes links on a day that saw the CSS increasing to 80 (reduction only). Pamela also reduced her handicap to +4.

    Lanarkshire Girls compete well in Junior Masters

    At Sunday's clubgolf Junior Masters Grand Final for under-16 years golfers at the Renaissance Club, East Lothian Heather Neilson had only 1 less stableford point than the winner, Charlotte Munro from Gullane. In a countback, Heather's second-nine points total of 18 placed her fourth. Emily Glencorse, Eva O'Connor, Julie Glencorse and Claire Whitelaw also played well.
    Charlotte Munro plays off 20 at Gullane. She top scored with 37pt at the head of the field of 30 girl qualifiers.
    Shannon McWilliam, an 11-year-old, 19-handicapper from Aboyne, Rachel Walker, who plays off five at Crichton Golf Club, near Dumfries, and Heather Neilson (Mouse Valley, Lanark) were all next best on the 36pt mark.

    Team, Caddies and Committeee Dinner

    The annual dinner for the team, their caddies and committee was held on Friday evening at Strathaven Golf Club where a good time was had by all. The evening had a Ryder Cup Theme our knowledge of which was well tested by our captain.
