Fiona is Champion

Fiona Norris is champion for the second year in a row. On a nice sunny afternoon at Hayston Golf Club Fiona defeated Lesley Lloyd by 4&3. A large number of spectators enjoyed watching the good golf on display.

Championship Semi Final Results

On a morning of sunny intervals between very heavy showers Lesley Lloyd defeated Elaine Cuthill 4&3 and Fiona Norris defeated Susan Wood 3&2.

The winner of the Bronze Trophy is Pam Rice of Strathaven who defeated Margaret Allan of Hollandbush 2&1.

Championship Quarter final results

In this afternoon's quarter final ties Lesley Lloyd defeated Janice Paterson 3&1 and will meet Elaine Cuthill, who defeated Angela Devine by 1 hole, in the semi final.

Fiona Norris defeated Ruth Rankin 7&6 and will meet Susan Wood, who defeated Emma Caddow 4&2, in the other semi final.

Championship

On the opening day of the Championship today at Hayston Golf Club the leading qualifier with a score of 73 was Captain Lesley Lloyd. The leading Qualifier in the Bronze Championship was Pam Rice and the winner of the Centenary Trophy with a net score of 70 was Adelia McEwan of Hayston.

The competitors enjoyed playing the course which was in very good condition for the time of year.

Pamela is chosen for Curtis Cup Team

Many congratulations to Pamela Pretswell who has been chosen by the Ladies' Golf Union to represent GB and Ireland in the 36th Curtis Cup Match against the United States at Essex County Club, Manchester-by -the-Sea, Massachusetts from June 11 to 13, 2010.

Pamela is in her junior honours year at Glasgow University and has played little competitive golf since last year’s Home International Matches at Irvine GC.Pamela did not switch to golf until 2003. Before that she had played tennis for Scotland and Great Britain, having taken part in a GB tennis demonstration on Wimbledon’s Centre Court when she was 12.

We in Lanarkshire are very proud of her and wish her well.

Please note that the traffic around Lenzie is very heavy in the early morning and there are a number of road works with traffic lights on different routes to Kirkintilloch so please allow extra time for your journey.

Winter Foursomes Result

In a Winter Foursomes semi final tie today Susan Wood and Elaine Cuthill defeated Elizabeth Nelson and Marion Arthur and will now play Irene Morton and Lynne Williamson in the final.

Fashion Show is a success

Yesterday evening over eighty ladies enjoyed a successful social and fund raising event with attractive clothes by Stewart Russell of East Renfrewshire G.C. and attractive models from Lanarkshire. LLCGA would like to thank Stewart and his staff for all their work in puting on a very well organised and enjoyable show and display of goods.

We played a pre-season match against Midlothian at Turnhouse Golf Club, Edinburgh today in brilliant sunshine. Unfortunately, the Seniors lost 3-1 and the Juniors lost 1.5-0.5. Congratulations and thanks to Midlothian for hosting this match.

Remember the Golf Fashion Show by Stewart Russell is on 15th April. Tickets, price £5, can be obtained from myself, Anne Lloyd or any member of the committee.

The closing date for entry to the Championship and Bronze Trophy at Hayston Golf Club on 28- 30 April is 18th April. Remember that on 28 April there is also a handicap competition for the Centenary Trophy.
