    GB & I win final day's play but Continent of Europe retain Vagliano Trophy

    GB&I won today's matches 61/2 - 5 1/2 but the Continent of Europe started the last day with a 7 1/2-4 1/2 advantage from winning the first day foursomes 2 1/2-1 1/2 and opening singles 5-3.This morning on another thunderstorm-hit day, the Continent of Europe repeated that 2 1/2-1 1/2 foursomes victory to start the final eight singles with a 10-6 advantage.

    GB &I won the afternoon singles 5-3 but that meant the Continent Of Europe won the trophy 13-11.

    Pamela Pretswell won 1 1/2 points out of a possible 3. She lost her foursomes match yesterday but today, along with Kylie Walker, she halved her foursomes match and won her singles against Lucie Andre of France by 4&3.

    The closing date for entries to the County Open Meeting at Dullater on 18th August has been extended to 3rd August. Times are available between 12.00 and 3.00pm . You can enter on your own or with one or two others.

    Draw for Centenary Texas Scramble

    To view the teams for the Centenary Texas Scramble at Bothwell Castle on 10th August please click on the link below. There will be a shotgun start at 9.30am and competitors must be ready to play by 8.45am. Registration will be open from 8.15am.

    Should you find that you are no longer able to play please let me know immediately as we have a waiting list.

    Please note that there is no entry fee for this competition and lunch will be provided at 2 pm.

    Scotland finish ninth in European Team Championship

    Scotland defeated Wales 5 to 0 today to finish top of flight B which meant they were ninth out of the 18 teams competing.
    England lost to Germany and so finished in second place.

    Scotland beat Switzerland in European Ladies Team Championship

    Scotland defeated Switzerland 4 1/2 to 1/2 in Flight B of the European Team Championships and will now play Wales who defeated Austria 4 to 1. Pamela halved her singles match.
    England reached the final of the top flight to play Germany for the gold medal.

    Pamela scored well in European Team Championship Qualifying rounds

    Pamela Pretswell was the top scorer of the Scottish Team in the qualifying rounds of the European Women's Amateur Team Championship in Bled, Slovenia with rounds of 77 and71. Scotland qualified in ninth place just missing out on a place in the top flight. As leading qualifiers in flight B they received a bye today and will play the winners of today's match between Finland and Switzerland tomorrow.

    The winner of the one round Blackjack Cup played over Colville Park today was Sandy Williamson of Lanark Golf Club with a net 73.

    Morison Cup

    The winner of the 36 hole Morison Cup played over Colville Park today was Susan Wood with a gross 152 (78,74). The runner up was Ruth Rankin with a gross score of 166 (86,80).

    Susan Wood also won the handicap prize with a net score of 146 (75,71)

    Junior Championship

    Some good scores were returned in the Junior Championship played over Colville Park today. The weather was kind and the course was in good condition. The winner of the Championship Salver was Alexandra Duffy,Cathkin Braes, with a net score of 65 while the Scratch Cup was won by Nicole Benson, Cawder with a gross score of 84.

    Some places remaining for Civic Reception

    There are still some places remaining for the Civic Reception to be given by South Lanarkshire Council. This will take place on Thursday 24 September 2009 in Committee Room 1, Council Offices, Hamilton at 7.00pm for 7.15pm. The format for the evening will be a drinks reception, photographs, civic welcome followed by a meal, short formal speeches and presentation of a civic gift. The evening will finish at 9.30pm approximately.If you wish to attend please sign the appropriate sheet on the notice board or contact May Hughes or Jean Macintyre by 10th July.
